Special thanks to Ronda, Katana and Eugene who filled in at the last minute. Newsletter delivery ringleader Jody had to contribute from the sidelines this time due to an injury.

Did you miss the Sumner neighborhood cleanup in May? Still have unwanted junk — um, I mean, treasures — laying around that you want to get rid of? Central Northeast Neighbors (CNN) will hold a Fall Cleanup on Saturday, Sept 26, in the parking lot of Glenhaven Park from 9 AM to 3 PM.

Accepted items: Yard debris, furniture, windows, carpet, scrap metal, washers & dryers, toilets, mattresses, mowers (must be drained), wood stoves, bikes, tubs, toys, stereos, VCRs.

What NOT to bring: Hazardous waste, asphalt, concrete, dirt, soil, gravel, roofing, animal waste.

Cleanup Fees:

  • Car $ 7.00
  • Van, SUV, or Small Pickup $15.00
  • Large Pickup $20.00

Tire Fees:

  • Rim & Rubber $ 3.00
  • Rubber only $ 2.00
  • Rim Only $ 1.00

CNN will also be accepting canned foods donations for Sunshine Division.

Glenhaven parking lot is located at NE 82nd Ave and NE Siskiyou in the Madison South Neighborhood.

The annual Sumner Neighborhood Cleanup will return on Saturday, May 16, at Helensview High School. This is a great way to clear debris from your home and yard for a small donation!

Items to bring: Yard debris, furniture, windows, carpet, scrap metal, washers/dryers, toilets, mattresses, mowers (gas or oil removed), woodstoves, bikes, tubs, toys, sterios, VCRs, old cell phones, and used ink cartridges.

Do NOT bring: Hazardous waste including gasoline, chemicals, oil, paint, tar, batteries, animal waste or liquids of any kind. Do not bring the following building and landscape materials: concrete, asphalt, dirt, sod, brick, cement, sand, gravel, roofing, asbestos, or under-the-sink garbage.

Residential vehicles only. No commercial vehicles will be accepted.

Clean up fees/donations: $5 for cars; $10 for vans or SUVs; $20 for pickup trucks; vehilcles with oversized loads will be charged an additional fee. Tires are an extra $2 off rim, $3 on rim.

The Sumner Neighborhood Association is sponsoring this event with generous help from METRO, Portland Office of Sustainable Development, SOLV, Subway, AGG Hauling, Central NE Neighbors, and Helensview High School.
