Below you will find some highlights from the public safety meeting held on Thursday, June 18, 2020, over Zoom.
We are still working on getting the meeting recording edited. We will send out information on how to access the recording next week once we get it wrangled.
Attached you will find 3 slides from a presentation on Racial Equity Training some City employees have participated in. Please note, this training focuses on services/programs the City provides. Daniel mentioned Slides 5, 6 and 7 (Click here to view Slides-5-6-7) as particularly beneficial for reflecting on why any organization has a program or provides services.
Below are summary resources for community members to learn more about what was discussed.
- Black Lives Matter
- City of Portland Graffiti Program
- Contact information for Jonny Lewis from the Homelessness and Urban Camping Impact Reduction Program (HUCIRP, also known as One Point of Contact):
- A Home for Everyone and their COVID updates:
At the end of the meeting Daniel and Jacob reminded those present that to better meet the needs of the community, this meeting could be organized, planned and facilitated by community members. City employees can provide a paid Zoom account with no time limit or limit of attendees. City employees can also provide technical assistance and facilitation training for community members so they can run this meeting themselves.
We thank the several community members who have expressed their willingness to help with planning and facilitation for a future public safety meeting.
